The biggest problem most young recruits
fail to grasp about multi-year military contracts
is that there is no real escape outside insanity or debilitating injury, which
is exactly why so many soldiers are turning to suicide. Those stuck in four, six,
or eight year contracts preparing for their third or more deployment need to be
offered a humane way out. Not too many
can handle war. Fewer still can handle
back-to-back wars. Something has to
change NOW because every suicide is one too many.
Solution: If the
government would limit the average contract of seventeen-nineteen year olds from
two to four years respectively, I guarantee the suicide rate will immediately
decline.
